The Verandah Restaurant

There are far worse ways to spend your day than soaking up the gorgeous views of the Calais Estate vineyards while dining at this Hunter Valley favourite. Frequented by locals and tourists alike, diners can sit outside on the verandah or, on cooler days, inside by the open fire. The Verandah is a place to come for shared dining with the focus on tapas and tasting menus. The tapas tower is one of the restaurant’s best-sellers, filled as it is with tasty morsels, but diners can also choose their own tapas combo from items including wild mushroom bruschetta with feta or the coconut battered Australian prawns with green tea noodle salad. The kitchen has especially designed gluten and lactose free as well as vegetarian tapas and tasting menus. Sometimes tapas can be a little light on, but here they are substantial and flavoursome, and diners leave feeling well-nourished and happy. The beverage list is extensive and interesting and there are many, many cocktails to kickstart your dining at this lovely Pokolbin eatery. So, settle in and soak it all up. The Verandah is a happy place.
