This family owned and run Greek restaurant is an absolute winner. The good looking and simple dining room is consistently filled with loyal patrons and over the weekends it brims with big groups banqueting and celebrating together. On arrival, the floor staff will share many a sample of wine to help you decide on your beverage of choice. It is a nice touch that makes you feel truly at home before you settle in for a big Greek feast. Like any Greek eating house worth its weight, the servings are generous and delicious. The Greek and Cypriot food is cooked to perfection: tender calamari, moreish stuffed zucchini, succulent cuts of slow-cooked meat. There are plenty of vegan and gluten free options as well. Try to save room for dessert: the Greek vanilla slice, baklava and perfectly brewed Greek coffee are a perfect way to wrap up the meal. Over the weekends there is live music from talented performers and later in the evening, happy and well-fed patrons make their way to clap and dance to their tunes. Do not be in a hurry, Tavernaki is a place to stay for a while.
