Hallams Waterfront Restaurant

This excellent family-owned and run restaurant in Launceston has been serving up the best line caught seafood from the pristine waters of Tasmania for over twenty years. The atmosphere is welcoming and cosy, furnished as it is with an open fire place, wooden furniture and filled with sea treasures you might find in your grandfather’s boatshed. The weatherboard venue takes in views of the Cataract Gorge and Tamar River making it the perfect place to sample the best of Tasmania’s seafood. The contemporary menu is en pointe with interesting flavours from Asia and South America making a show. Oysters are locally farmed, the seared Tasmanian scallops are as fresh as they come and the shared seafood platter is a perennial favourite with diners. For the selection of wine and beer the Hallams have looked to local friends as well as their South Australian and New Zealand neighbours: it makes for very tasty drinking. A local gem, Hallams ticks all of the boxes for getting up close and personal with the regional flavours of Tasmania in a very happy way.
