German Spoon

Hahndorf in South Australia is Australia’s oldest surviving German settlement, and German Spoon evloves from that heritage with a menu which wholeheartedly embraces German cuisine. This gorgeous looking venue, with is rustic dining room inside and verandah dining outside, is an eatery well worth experiencing. Using local South Australia produce, the skilled kitchen team serves up German specialty dishes including German sausages, perfectly crumbed schnitzels and an out-of-this-world German hot dog. To sample the specialties of the house, try the platter of sausages to share or the German gastronomic experience that is the Spoony German Feast – it is a knock out and a favourite with diners. If not feeling the need for a Germanic feed, there are pastas, chargrilled cuts of local meat and poultry, and burgers and salads – all are equally well made and tasty delights of their own. Do not come here unless you are hungry and ready for heart-warming and plentiful serves. A visit here is also an opportunity to get familiar with a selection of local beers, ciders and wines, and the friendly and easy ambience makes German Spoon a place you want to stay for a while.
