Cellar Door on First

This is a Sunshine Coast venue with a difference. A newly opened beauty of a place, Cellar Door on First goes against the grain of what we have come to expect from Sunshine Coast eateries. There is no bright, open and glassy aesthetic to be found here. Rather, Cellar Door on First is dark and moody featuring exposed brick walls, slate floors, dark brown wooden furniture and copper and bronze finishes. It’s the kind of place you would expect to stumble upon in a city centre. And yet, here it is on First Avenue, Mooloolaba. Chef Nathan Rumble has sourced ingredients locally to create a global menu influenced by as much by the flavours of Asia as those from the Mediterranean. And yet, the dining remains cohesive and completely satisfying: food is fresh, fragrant and a delight to experience. The extensive wine list works in perfect symbiosis and there are many varietals to enjoy. It’s best not to be in a hurry when dining here. The staff are a tight outfit who love what they do, and they work seamlessly with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure all guests ensure a lavish and fabulous meal. A gourmet Sunshine Coast experience not to be missed.
