Backlane Tapas & Wine Bar

The casual and more gregarious sibling to Cellar Door on First, people visit Backlane Tapas to drink, to share food and to have fun. Dine at the solid polished concrete communal benches or watch the world go by while you dine alfresco style. Set one block back from the beach, locals flood to this chic new venue for the excellent food and nicely selected wine list. Chef Nathan Rumble has created a crowd-pleasing and interesting menu designed to delight the palate. The creative tapas menu includes taste highlights like the Moreton Bay bugs with kimchi and ranch sauce, serrano ham with manchego and wasabi, and eggplant relish with silken tofu, chilli, lime and soy. There are also large sharing platters if seeking a more substantial feed. Share a spiced lamb shoulder with quinoa and beetrot, Asian spiced beef short ribs or a sticky pork salad with noodles. The service team is made up of smart operators who know their stuff and are wise to what makes for a great night out. Take some time out and dig into this fabulous gourmet eatery, a welcome arrival for locals and visitors to Mooloolaba.
