Altitude 1148

As you descend into Wollongong from Sydney, make a stop at this stunning hilltop venue. The panoramic views over the Wollongong coast are breathtaking and it serves up a wide selection of dishes for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The café offers light dining choices like burgers, wraps and pizzas, and at the restaurant, the menu skews heavily toward the sea. The locally caught seafood is a favourite with diners and guests can share a seafood platter or enjoy their very own plate with dishes like salt and pepper prawns, crispy skin ocean trout or bug and prawn risotto. For non-seafood eaters, there is a good selection of Indian food including butter chicken and lamb kofta curry. The servings are generous but be sure to save room for the great selection of desserts including a flourless orange, lime and pistachio cake, apple crumble or tiramisu. If eating on the run, Altitude 1148 has a really top takeaway menu – a far better option than a visit to a fast food outlet. This place is definitely worth a pitstop, or even a longer check-in if you can.
